Becoming TEFL Certified is easy and takes a small investment of your time. The rewards of certification can benefit you greatly.  TEFL Certification significantly enhances your resume and creates higher quality job opportunities for you. It opens doors for opportunity and sets you aside from those who are uncertified.

Do you Need a TEFL Certificate?

There is a growing trend in many locations in China requiring foreign English teachers to have eaither 2-years experience or be TEFL Certified.   The information below will help guide you towards making a decision in determining if enrollment is right for you.

You may need to enroll in a TEFL course if:

  • You do not have a 4-year diploma, or BA equivilent.
  • Your BA is not from an American University.
  • You are a non-native English speaker.
  • The province where you wish to work has issued a regulation requiring a TEFL.
  • You feel anxiety about lesson planning and standing in front of a classroom.
  • You are a recent college graduate with less than 2-years of formal classroom experience.

Working Abroad with a TEFL Company or Program Provider?

My TEFL Company Says they Offer 100% Free Job Placement.

Are you sure? Let's examine if this is true:
The TEFL Course you signed up for charges $1400 for a weekend course and guarantees free job placement abroad. Now that you've finished your course, the TEFL outfit hands you a brochure and says, "here is the free information we promised!" Choose a school or a company, contact them and start sending out your resumes.. You see our name on the list of organizations to contact - If you had only known this before you signed up for that expensive course!

By the time you've sent out your resumes and secured your position, you're facing down the invoice of another $2000-$3000 in travel / visa / insurance expense to get to the country to start working! So adding up the cost of your course, $4400 is the premium you pay for going through a TEFL company, and this doesnt include in-country support!

Program Providers

Full Service Domestic Organizations Handling All Aspects of Job Placement.
Program providers earn their commissions from schools and reputable organizations do not garnish teacher salaries. Any TEFL Course worth its salt has a practicum requirement. Our program integrates the actual work you do abroad into the practicum requirement. Unlike other TEFL courses, we do not expect our semester teachers to volunteer their valuable time to complete this requirement. You get paid while earning your TEFL! Our TEFL has brand recognition and we are a guarantor for your experience abroad. As a full service program and travel provider, we handle all of your placement and travel logistics (while you are completing your coursework), including the complicated work visa processing.

Examining the average cost of a journeyeast placement with a recent college graduate, $2890 includes airfare, your accredited TEFL Course and the assurance of having a quality ESL job abroad when you are done. You are guaranteed placement in our network, a ticket to your destination, and in-country support. That is a savings of $1510!
