SAFEA REQUIREMENTS SAFEA is an acronym that stands for State Administration of Foreign Experts. To satisfy the SAFEA standards, individuals applying for the Chinese Working Visa must first be able to be classified as a, "Foreign Expert"
Technical Qualifications to be classified as a Foreign Expert SAFEA guidelines are very clear about who can qualify for foreign expert status. You must have a skill, talent and education level that is in high demand. Technically, foreign experts are supposed to have a minimum education of a MA. (Masters) or be well accomplished in their field of work or study.
Realistic Application of Foreign Expert Status China is expeditiously educating its people in English Language. There are more people learning to speak English in China than there are English speakers in the whole of the United States of America. With that said, anyone who has a Bachelors degree and/or TEFL certificate may qualify to be a foreign expert. Those seeking work in China who do not have a four year degree can also teach through journeyeast.org TEFL internships or student teacher programs. In this case, BESI LLC is a guarantor to the schools on your behalf and there is an extra fee for this.
Basic Requirements to Obtain the Z-Working Visa: 1. University Diploma or Accredited TEFL Certification 2. Be at least 18 Years Old 3. Two Letters of Professional and or Academic Reference. 4. Resume 5. Possess a Valid Passport
Who Is Eligible? 1. College Graduates 2. Teachers, Professors, TEFL Instructors 3. Individuals With at least 4-years professional working experience having TEFL Certification. 4. Non-College Graduates enrolled in Journeyeast.org TEFL Certification programs.
How Will I Know if I Qualify? When your school has completed the invitation formalities, SAFEA will issue you a stamped original document with registration number in Chinese to be presented to the Chinese consulate in your consular jurisdiction. This document will certify that SAFEA recognizes your status and eligibility to be classified as a "Foreign Expert."
I Don't Have a College Degree Can I Teach in China? Technically, No. Though thousands of non-qualified people do it every year. You should understand the risks as they apply to your qualifications. Non-degreed individuals often work in China using Business (F-Visas) and Tourist (L-Visas) These visas do not allow you to earn a wage or apply for tax status in China. If you have some college experience, we suggest you prepare your official college transcripts and submit them to us. We will translate them into Chinese and appeal to the local Chinese public Security Bureau to determine if you qualify in the locality of the school that has chosen you to be their teacher. Also, if you are not qualified, journeyeast can be a gaurantor on your behalf and enroll you their TEFL internship program. You will receive a salary and be evaluated at the completion of the program to receive your ITEFL.
OTHER CASES FOR OBTAINING WORKING VISAS This text does not address the standards for individuals seeking employment with Chinese companies or foreign owners of Chinese based enterprises.
